Eric Vander Mey shares insights about sustainable building design for student housing in the latest Higher Education special section of the DJC. 

Over the last 10 years, Rushing has provided MEP engineering, lighting design, sustainability consulting and energy services for numerous LEED Gold student housing projects in Western Washington, including the University of Washington’s latest North Campus Housing expansion project—McCarty, Madrona, Willow and Oak Halls. To reach the high sustainability standards set for these project, a number of green strategies have been studied, designed and implemented.
