Rushing sponsored Clean Lake Union’s third annual paddle race fundraiser in Lake Union this July. Clean Lake Union is a non-profit organization focused on implementing practical solutions and raising awareness about water quality issues in Lake Union.

Several Rushing employees competed in the paddle race, which was open to kayakers and stand-up paddle boarders. “We see Lake Union from the office every day. I wanted to do something to help make it cleaner,” said Qing Zhang, Rushing energy analyst.

On participating in the race, Marisa Zylkowski, sustainability consultant, said “it was a unique opportunity to be in the middle of the lake and see our projects around the city and also know there’s more we can do to help develop solutions to slow stormwater runoff to make a cleaner lake.”

Rushing principal and director of sustainability, Alexandra Ramsden, is a member of the Clean Lake Union board of directors and volunteered at the event. For more information about Clean Lake Union’s work and current projects visit
