A grassroots effort is growing at Rushing to advance the company’s commitment to equity and diversity. The Rushing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee (also known as REDI) has begun meeting regularly to continue to intentionally promote a culture of inclusion at the company.
REDI’s mission is to “empower each other through a culture of inclusivity and respect.” The committee is focused around four core areas: awareness through education, storytelling, benchmarking and onboarding.
“We want a comfortable workplace for all. REDI is a dynamic tool to create change and create change and empower a safe and productive work environment,” says Reggie Christor, “I hope REDI can be an example for other workplaces to implement similar groups.”
Members of the REDI committee come from a variety of teams at Rushing and all employees are invited to join REDI at any time. “Being involved with the REDI team has been a great opportunity to get to know my coworkers and their stories,” says Andi Burnham.
REDI is currently supporting pursuit of the JUST label certification to benchmark Rushing’s commitment to social equity issues in company policy. REDI is also working on supporting the use of inclusive language in team discussions and refining an onboarding process to help all new employees get settled and access Rushing’s support resources.
“We can all strive to be better,” says Ron Wilhelm. “Times change and Rushing wants to change with the times.”
