Western Washington University in Bellingham Washington has a new residence hall located on “South Campus” between the Buchanan Towers and Fairhaven Complex. The Stateside is a 4-story student housing development, situated along the ridge that separates East College Way to the west and the Outback Farm to the east completed construction in Fall 2021.  This is the first project in Bellingham to achieve Fitwel building certification.

The Stateside residence hall, features a mix of double and quadruple occupancy units, studios as well as accessible units, with shared baths and kitchens. All residence halls on Western’s campus offer an assortment of amenities including a 24-hour fitness center, group study rooms, sky lounge, electric car-share vehicles, bike wash/repair station, and a community kitchen with a gourmet coffee bar.

Rushing teamed with Mahlum to complete a predesign feasibility study for the project providing MEP full design and LEED management and administrative services to Exxel Pacific, achieving LEED Gold certification, as targeted.
