Casey Family Programs at West 8th
Rushing provided Sustainability Consulting, LEED Management, and LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning services for this tenant improvement project in the West 8th building in downtown Seattle.
In an effort to ensure the design process incorporated smart, cost-effective, high-impact sustainability measures, Rushing’s Sustainability Studio was invited onto the team early on to conduct a sustainability and LEED workshop with the team. This resulted in the seamless integration of sustainability strategies that were well-suited for Casey Family Programs and the building.
The new space included water-efficient appliances, fixtures, and fittings that have helped reduce water use by more than 33%. Additionally, the efficient tenant improvement design reduced energy use by more than 25% with the use of daylight-sensored lighting, occupancy sensors, and energy-efficient mechanical systems. Other sustainability measures include stair treads made from reclaimed timber, 95% diversion of construction waste, and the use of environmentally considerate cleaning products and practices. The new Casey Family Programs office is a LEED-CI Gold certified tenant space.
