August Wilson Place (LIHI Bellevue)
August Wilson Place provides 57 units of affordable housing to families and individuals in Bellevue making 30-60% of area median income. Named after the African American playwright and Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson, the site is Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard (ESDS) compliant and is located near the Bellevue Transit Center, providing residents immediate access to public transportation.
Rushing worked directly with the Low Income Housing Institute on the project to meet ESDS envelope compliance, and designed the project to achieve Puget Sound Energy (PSE) Multi-Family Energy Efficiency incentives.
The building opened in May 2015.
