Western and Cedar

This 18-story multifamily tower in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood is participating in the city’s Living Building Pilot Program. The project will include 182 units, a 1,600 square foot roof deck, and car elevators to stack parking for 130 vehicles, bringing the total project size to just over 230,000 square feet.

By participating in Seattle’s Living Building Pilot Program the project is receiving extra building height in exchange for advanced sustainable design features. These strategies include designing for net-positive energy (the building and offsite solar will produce more energy than it uses) and no potable water use for toilet flushing or irrigation. The project is pursuing 3 Living Building Challenge Petal Certifications developed by the International Living Future Institute; the Place, Energy and Beauty Petals. An example of the site’s incorporation of beauty, is a seven-story terrace which will be curated for children’s play.
