Fire Station 29 was remodeled according to the City of Seattle Sustainable Buildings and Site Policy to optimize environmental quality. Rushing provided sustainability consulting for the project targeting LEED-CI certification. The site remodel accommodated apparatus and administrative space as well as the day room and sleeping areas within the fire station. Sustainable features of the renovation include:

  • 48% water use reduction.
  • 22% reduction in lighting power with 100% of lighting connected to occupancy sensors.
  • Low-emitting sealants, paints and flooring.
  • Electric vehicle charging station.
