The United Methodist Church on Fifth Avenue in downtown Seattle was designated a historic landmark in 2004. In 2007, developers at Daniels Real Estate purchased the site to preserve the sanctuary and build a new 48-story mixed-use tower on site. Rushing provided commissioning services for the tower, and, for the historic church, provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering as well as energy services.

The historic building involved a full tear-out of existing systems for a completely renovated space, including ballrooms, kitchens, dining, and assembly spaces.

Rushing provided full MEP/energy/lighting design services for the project. HVAC systems included a combined heating hot water and domestic hot water plant served by gas boilers and air to water heat pump chillers. Full Revit design was executed by Rushing to coordinate all systems with existing and new structures.
