The International WELL Building Institute has released a new sustainability protocol for health and safety. Designed to address health and safety for a post-COVID-19 world and beyond, the WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management provides a third-party verification for all types of facilities.
“Building operators are thinking about virus mitigation,” says Stefanie Young, manager of sustainability at Rushing. “This rating system helps create a safer environment and gives future tenants more confidence in returning to work.”
According to WELL, the protocol was developed “with recommendations from nearly 600 experts across public health, medicine, design, real estate, government and academia” and focuses on operational policies, maintenance protocols, emergency plans and stakeholder education.
