The Washington State chapter of NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association, named four Rushing projects winners and three projects finalists at their annual Night of the Stars awards gala held November 8, 2019.
Night of the Stars honors developments in a variety of markets and “the individuals who conceived of, took risks, sponsored, support and made the projects happen,” according to NAIOP. “Projects are evaluated for impact on the community, market adaptability, ingenuity and local contributions.”
Liberty Bank Building, the six-story residential building, was named Affordable Housing Development of the Year. Rushing provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering as well as commissioning, lighting design and energy services for this project.
In residential categories Sitka, the South Lake Union residential complex inspired by Washington’s San Juan Islands, was named Multi-Family Residential Urban Development of the Year. Rushing provided lighting design and electrical engineering for this midrise project. Additionally, the Rushing lighting design project The Triangle, a midrise apartment building located in Redmond, was named Multi-Family Residential Suburban Development of the Year.
Three other Rushing projects were noted as finalists for the awards, including: Cocoon House for Community Impact Development of the Year; Axle for Multi-Family Residential Urban Development of the Year; and Zella for Multi-Family Residential Urban Development of the Year.
“It was a celebratory night and exciting to see so many of our partners honored,” said Haley Krommenhoek, Rushing principal who attended the gala.
