The First Hill Streetcar presentation featured during October’s Rail~Volution conference is now available online. This year’s conference was Seattle’s inaugural opportunity to act as host city, and with so much current expansion of Seattle’s mass transit systems, the timing was perfect.
The First Hill Streetcar Operations and Maintenance Facility project has been a collaborative effort of all facets of the Rushing team – our mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, sustainability consultants, lighting designers, energy modelers, and commissioning agents have contributed their talents. As a result of the combined Rushing effort, the project is anticipated to receive LEED-NC Silver at minimum with a strong possibility of achieving Gold.
The Sustainability Features of the Facility are detailed in slides 38-42 of the presentation with slide 41 showcasing Rushing’s design options for the HVAC system. VRF and Radiant Flooring (Option 3) will ensure a high level of energy efficiency utilizing the most appropriate components for the facility’s size and uses. In addition to the HVAC system, onsite PV panels, a green roof, and substantial daylighting work to make this facility an icon of sustainability for Seattle.
Finishing touches for the First Hill Streetcar Operations and Maintenance Facility will wrap up this February with the streetcar set for full operation by mid-year.
