Seattle’s Bertschi School has officially received full Living Building Certification! This is Seattle’s first Living Building Challenge and the 4th ever to be certified anywhere. Furthermore, Bertschi is the first project certified under version 2.0 of the Living Building Challenge and the first to achieve certification in a dense, urban environment.

Rushing provided MEP engineering services and energy and water-use analysis to achieve net-zero usage.

The Bertschi School Science Wing case study is available on the International Living Future Institute’s website. The Daily Journal of Commerce  and GreenSource Magazine both highlight the project in recent issues.
