Rushing was the MEP engineer of record and sustainability/LEED consultant for the First Hill Streetcar Maintenance Facility, providing Integrated Design Facilitation; Sustainability and LEED Consulting; Natural Ventilation Analysis; and Energy Modeling for LEED and Seattle Energy Code RS-29 compliance. Practicing true integrated sustainable design, Rushing’s Sustainabilty Studio facilitated the launch of the design process with a project kick-off sustainability charrette. This aligned the team members’ direction around the overall project goals, vision, and sustainability measures which were appropriate and cost effective for the facility.
The 19,000 SF facility acts as a hub for the First Hill Streetcar drivers and staff and provides a space for the streetcars to be maintained. The project was awarded LEED-NC Gold certification.
