Director of Mechanical Engineering Eric Vander Mey will be presenting information about changes to Washington State Energy Code proposed for the 2015 cycle at an upcoming event. The NAIOP-sponsored roundtable takes place from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, October 13 at Paladino. Eric will present alongside Christie Baumel, Climate and Energy Advisor for the Seattle Office of Sustainability & Environment. Their presentations will last for approximately one hour with discussion to follow.
The Washington State Energy Code is a modified version of the International Energy Conservation Code. The proposed amendments for the 2015 cycle impact refrigerated spaces, economizers, and commissioning for commercial and multifamily residential buildings greater than three stories. Washington State’s code development has wide-ranging impacts, and many of the changes incorporated into the 2015 IECC involved adoption of the amendments Washington State made in 2012. The current public review period for the proposed code changes is open through October 23. The new rules will go into effect on July 1 of next year.
